BBC Proms 2022: Dates, venue, tickets and schedule


he BBC Proms has announced this year’s programme and opened the Proms Planner – which means it’s finally time to start planning your event schedule.

More than 3,000 musicians will perform at 84 events across two months, so there are plenty of opportunities to attend an event.

As well as the events taking place at the Royal Albert Hall, there will be Proms across the UK.

Additionally, all concerts will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and streamed on BBC Sounds, so you won’t have to be in London to take part.

BBC Proms 2022 dates

Music fans have a whole summer of events to look forward to. This year, the BBC Proms will begin on July 15 and will end on September 10.

BBC Proms schedule

The first night of the proms will feature Sakari Oramo conducting the BBC Symphony Orchestra Chorus in Verdi’s Requiem.

The last night of the proms will feature performances from Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Lise Davidsen and Dalia Stasevska.

Other highlights include Tchaikovsky’s Fourth and the Barber Violin Concerto, Ravel’s Piano Concerto and The Rite of Spring, Mozart Momentum, Ballets by Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev, and The Lark Ascending and Debussy’s La mer.

BBC Proms venues

Most events will take place at the Royal Albert Hall in London, but there will be proms across the UK.

Events will take place in Belfast, Gateshead, Bristol, Cardiff, Truro, Liverpool, Birmingham, Glasgow.

Unfortunately, Proms in the Park events will not happen this year.

How to book BBC Proms tickets and prices

Booking for BBC Proms opens on May 21 at 9am. You can submit your Proms Plan, or book online, in person, or by phone.

Ticket prices for the BBC Proms range from £8.50 to £105–there are eight price bands and prices depend on the seat and the event. A booking fee of 2%, plus £2 per ticket up to £25, will apply to all bookings.

People under 18 can buy half price tickets for all Proms except the Last Night of the Proms.

Prices will also vary for Proms events across the UK.

To create a Proms Plan, head to the Royal Albert Hall, and log in or create an account.

Here, you’ll be able to browse the 84 events that are taking place across the eight weeks, and add the ones you really want to see to your Proms Planner.

This service opened on April 26, and will close on May 20, ahead of the tickets going on sale on May 21. Be aware that creating a plan does not confirm your booking.
