Connor Goldson hits back at Rangers snipers who claim he’s ‘lost his hunger’

Rangers standout Connor Goldson has sent a firm response to his detractors who claim he’s lost his desire.

The 29-year-old is a looming free agent and was colossal in Sunday’s 2-1 Scottish Cup semi final win over Celtic at Hampden.

Goldson was chuffed with his side’s efforts at the national stadium and took to Instagram to send a reminder to those who doubt him.

It was the perfect return to Hampden for Goldson who was panned for his display against Hibs and and the subsequent interview that followed.

And he replied to Rangers’ official update on social media.

He wrote: “Lost my hunger apparently.”

Goldson’s long-term future remains up in the air but there’s no doubt he is committed to the cause as they push for Europa League and Scottish Cup glory.

And he was delighted with the way his side battled past their biggest rivals.

He told Rangers TV: “You looked at them and they looked leggy too. Even though we had the game on Thursday it looked like they were tiring and we could see that. It probably gave us momentum and belief we could go and win.

“I’m buzzing, proud, tired. I’m proud of everyone after what we’ve had to give this week. To get the result we did? I thought the boys were magnificent.

“I’m tired, but when you win you feel less tired. We used the two days in between to recover. My legs didn’t feel great in the morning, but it’s an Old Firm and once you get into it your legs take care of themselves.”

And Rangers will look to reignite their title bid when they face Motherwell next weekend before the first leg against RB Leipzig.

They trail Celtic by six points but know a win at Parkhead on May 1 will give them a chance to take Ange Postecoglou’s side the whole way in the race for glory.
